Ahhhh, how life is bittersweet to see your little babies grow up up up up up with or without you.

Monday night we decided that Owen was ready. Ready for what? For going to school in Underwear. He'd been doing 99% fine at home wearing undies, that we said, you know what, let's do it. It also didn't hurt that we were about to buy him a baseball glove, but had the ingenious idea to use that as a reward: The first full day you can go at school without having an accident, we will buy you your very own baseball glove.

So Tuesday morning, we woke up and I proceeded to dress him up in his underwear ... actually following thru with a plan, I couldn't believe it. He went on the potty in the morning, before school and I reminded him of his goal - the first day at school w/no accidents and he could get his own glove. "My own glub, mama?" Yes, Owen, your own glove. "A big one?" Yes, honey, whichever one you want, as long as you stay dry at school today.

Inspired Music Suggestions

My last post got me to thinking -

Comment with songs that are really upbeat and you think are great to workout to. I've already gotten a few suggestions from Christine, but would love to hear more. Gimme Gimme More! Oooo, that could possibly fit. I'm looking for catchy songs that have some kind of beat to it. Even if it's a tad bit slower, that's fine because it could be used for the warm up or cool down periods.

The latest song I have in my head that I'm going to have to download from iTunes and put on my playlist is:

(complete w/lyrics)

Danity Kane's "Damaged" - yes, that is P.Diddy's band. :)

So I've always thought I was a lyrics person more than a melody person. Meaning, that songs I really liked, I liked much more for the lyrics than the actual beat. I thought I paid attention to lyrics. I'm finding out ... not so much.

Pretty much the only country music I'll listen to is Garth Brooks Greatest Hits, and that's only because he had a tie in with McDonalds in promoting that CD, and who doesn't love a good Egg McMuffin? And it was in college - aren't we all experimental then?

So anyway, I needed some new music at the gym yesterday, so was just randomly going thru my iPod and decided to listen to that cd that I hadn't heard in ages. Ages.

So I'm elliptical-trainin' it, listening to "Ain't Goin' Down til the Sun Comes Up." Thinking, ooooo, we're goin' to the rodeo. Then I start listening. I mean, really listening. No background noise cause the earbuds are firmly in my ear, and the volume is up to 11 (this one goes to 11).

Much Better Than I Could Hope For

So the day started off nice. Owen usually yells his arisal from his room and we hear it on the monitor - "MAMADADDY! HELLO! HEY MAMA!" and on weekends, we usually yell back - "COME HERE, COME TO MY BEDROOM" cause i mean, really, I don't want to 'wake up' at that point. So at 9 a.m. yesterday, Owen just showed up unannounced in our room, smiling. So we dragged him into bed and one of the first things he said was "Happy Mother's Day!" I was touched. He & his dad gave me cards and some small, cute presents. Then they made me breakfast. After that, we went to Eff-cot (as Owen would say) and spent a long, tiring day there.

But the best part of the day came at the very end. It was nearing 11p and both Ryan and I were exhausted and Owen just wasn't in the mood to sleep. I made a deal with him - he could sleep in our room tonight if 1) he promised to go to sleep and be quiet, and 2) he slept in his own room tomorrow. So as we were all drifting off to sleep, I thanked my boys for a wonderful mother's day - more than any cards or gifts they gave me, the best gift they gave me was just giving me hugs and kisses. I didn't tell them this, but that meant so much more to me as a mom because of the own way I've been treated by my own mother. So anyway, Owen turns to me, grabs my face in his hands, gives me a kiss on my left cheek with his very soft lips and says, "You Welcome for the Happy Mother's Day, mama." He almost made me cry with that hilarious statement. He made me realize that no relationship is perfect, and love may not last forever, but really, truly appreciate every moment I have with this kid while he's young and able to express his love like that. Who knows what he'll be like in 13 years - I just hope I raise a young man who loves me and won't hate me when he's going thru teenage angst!!! :)

Tim Tebow helps circumcise impoverished kids

Although I'm kind of bummed cause that's the headline you see from the main page, but when you go to the article, the title is much different. Boo.

And that is all I have to say about that.

Yep. I've been on a roll. April's photos will take a little longer as I want to make sure I get photos from Matthew's bday party in there (Yo, Charity, lemme know when yous gets those posted) and also with the two cameras, I gotta go thru and figure out which is which and rename 'em and all that jazz.

So, that being said, enjoy SOME of april's pics ... These are from our trip to St. Louis. Rock on, y'all. Or is it ya'll? I think it's the former, but I've seen a lot of the latter. It's gotta be the first cause it's a contraction of you all, and the ' signifies that the OU in you is gone. Cause it's not a contraction of ya all, where the ' would indicate that the a in all is gone.

It was wicked awesome

So last night we fulfilled Part II of Ryan's parents' Christmas gift to us. Two tix to see "Wicked." Oh. My. God. It was absolutely fantastic. I loved it ALL. The music, the story, the acting, the singing. Every bit of it. It was great. While I really wished I could have seen it on broadway w/Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel (how amazing would that have been), I am quite satisfied w/this Broadway Across America troupe. Wow, what a production.

I was thisclose to buying tix for ourselves, but after all the convenience charges, it came out to $200 (for pretty crappy seats), so I figured that one day we'll fly to New York and catch one of those day-of lotteries. Well, with gas prices and plane ticket costs the way they are ... I'm so glad that Ryan's folks got us these tix and we were able to go. (They watched Owen.)

They still have physical hold of Owen now and I can't wait until they release him. I so can't wait to see my little pumpkin again!!! I MISS HIM!
