acb: October 2007 Archives

Extra points for anyone who can (without googling!) tell me where the last part of my title comes from.

Anyhooter - I really should work, but my bud huy imparted on me a meme to do. Man, it's been a while since I've written or read many blogs. So here we go!

1. What is your occupation?
Systems Engineer (yeah, I don't know what that means, either. So I just say "computer stuffs" when people ask me.)

2. What color are your socks right now?
They're the invisible brown kind. Brown as in the color of my skin.

3. What are you listening to right now?
My laptop's fans spinning in overtime as it overheats on my lap, giving me third degree burns on my thighs. I swear, my thighs are two shades darker than the rest of my body.

4. What was the last thing that you ate?
A slice of chocolate-hazelnut coffee cake from Starbucks. Hey, it's my anniversary! A girl can splurge! :)

5. Can you drive a stick shift?
I can get it into first, which is, apparently, the hard part. After that, I can't do anything - which is, apparently, the easy part.

6. If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Cerulean Blue. Not because I particularly like that color, but when I was a kid, I saw that on a crayola and thought that was the coolest thing ever.

7. Last person you spoke to on the phone?
Holy crap, seriously? I can't remember talking on the phone to anyone this entire weekend. Oh wait! Lissette called me this afternoon. So, Lissette. Unless you count the automated gift card balance checker when I called to find out how much was on my starbucks giftcard.

8. How old are you today?
31. But not for long, alas.

9. Favorite drink?
non-alcoholic: diet cherry coke, alcoholic: used to be a german chocolate cake shot, but now is a good beer - preferably a hefeweissen or a bold german one.

10. What is your favorite sport to watch?
Gator Football!

11. Have you ever dyed your hair?
Nope, I have virgin hair. Although I'm going to need to do something about all these whites that keep popping up. I think Asians go past the "grey" stage and go directly into white.

12. Pets?
Nope, unfortunately, am allergic to most animals.

13. Favorite food?
Pizza - especially when done right.

14. What was the last movie you watched?
In the theater? Holy crap, probably Ratatouille, like 2 months ago. On DVD, Beerfest.

15. Favorite day of the year?
When I realize Fall is upon us! (Or when it feels like fall is in the air ... you know, that cool nip in the air, that spring in your step, that ... never mind)

16. What do you do to vent anger?
Anger? Ha, pshaw, I don't get angry ... I get even. Nah, I can't think of anything. Probably scream and curse.

17. What was your favorite toy as a child?
Since I have blocked out most of my childhood "memories," I cannot answer that one.

18. What is your favorite fall or spring?
Fall.

19. Hugs or kisses?
Hugs, hugs, and more hugs.

20. Cherries or Blueberry?
Blueberry

21. Do you want your friends to email you back?
Sure, why not.

22. Who is most likely to respond?
With people who have a blog ... prolly Mandy. (OK, MANDY? GET TO IT, snap snap.)

23. Who is least likely to respond?
Prolly Annie since she, um, like, um, like just, like, had a baby, like, ok? That's the end of the regularly blogging world for her as she knows it. ;)

24. When was the last time you cried?
Probably earlier this week when I read a sad news story about a lady's 4-month-old dying of a cough medicine overdose.

25. Who is the friend you have had the longest that you are sending this to?
I dunno who reads my blog anymore, so whoever is reading this, if you think you've known me longest, you probably have.

26. What did you do last night?
Went to the Oktoberfest celebration at Shades of Green (Disney) with the fam and our traveling buds.

27. Favorite smells?
Toast and the honeysuckles at night by the Three Rivers (I think that's it) toll plaza in Orlando.

28. What inspires you?
Dedicated, motivated people.

29. What are you afraid of?
I'll steal Huy's answer here - "Spiders. Especially female spiders when you step on them and what you think is just hairs, are actually baby spiders and they go crawling everywhere." OMG, so gross. I *hate* when that happens.

30. Plain, cheese or spicy hamburgers?
Change it to turkey burgers from alehouse and the answer is plain with yellow mustard. Every once in a while, I'll go crazy and get it with swiss and sauteed mushrooms.

31. Favorite dog breed?
Rottweiler. But I'm gonna hafta pick something hypo-allergenic if I ever get one.

32. How many years at your current job?
Eight. Holy crap. I'm a lifer. But that's OK - it's not a bad job.

33. Favorite days of the week?
Thursday. I love Thursday.

34. How many states have you lived in?
Alabama, Texas, New York, Florida, and Confusion. So that's five.

35. Ever driven a Motorcycle or heavy machinery?
No.

36. Who's your favorite NFL team?
Don't have one. When I was a kid, it was the 49ers and Redskins.

37. Do you have a house phone that is NOT cordless?
Yes, because I'm paranoid and won't give out credit card numbers on a cordless or cell phone.

38. Do you like finding out more about people in your lives?
No, I'm a friggin hermit. What the hell do you think? Who writes these questions, anyway?

75 Pics. Now I'm only a month and a half behind. But don't worry, I'll fall even farther behind soon. I can't decide what to do about September pics ... there are so many. I'll have to figure it out. Anyway, enough rambling! Here is the link:

Sunday Sunday Sunday!

Sundays are especially nice when the kid lets you sleep in. 'Til ten! What an awesome little boy I have. He must have sensed our frustration with the stinking Gators last night. So, after the game ended last night, Ryan put "Beerfest" in the DVD player (thanks for lending it to us, Pras), and we laughed our asses off. Of course, it was 2:15 in the morning by the time it was done, so I went to bed dreading the 7:30 / 8:00 a.m. wake up call. But ... Ten O'Clock. What a kid. Maybe these dark circles that have formed under my now puffy eyes will eventually go away. Hmmm ... Maybe I'll have to get cucumbers, slice them up, and put on them to speed that process along.

One Step Closer ...

... to becoming an alkie, I'm sure.

Lately, I've had this URGE to have a nice, cold beer with my lunch. At 1 p.m. in the afternoon. On a weekday. And not the wussy three percent alcohol kind. Nothing less than 4.9 percent will do - and that's on the weak side. *sigh*

And then, today, during one of my telecons, I could actually taste red wine in my mouth. Like, I could taste the slight acridity of the tannins on my tongue. Which, of course, naturally led to a jonesing for a nice glass of cabernet.

Ruh roh, rhaggy ... drinking is supposed to be reserved for the weekends!!! Or at least after work ends. But like I said - it's just an urge. I will manage to refrain from the evil that is alcohol. For now. But when the kid goes to sleep, all bets are off! :)
